Stas Pukhov's project
FACES
Stencils on canvas

A long time ago stencils on house walls became a habitual detail of city views. They are discussed by passers-by, photographed by reporters, and invariable serve as an object for interest of youth. Today the vector of modern culture is directed to development by street art "unusual" spaces - halls of galleries and the centers of contemporary art. The exhibition of Stas Pukhov "Faces" (stencils on canvases) in gallery "OkNo" is a bright confirmation of this fact.

What is the reason of transition of an artist to new, apparently unusual for him space? What is it- attempt to move off the street art and to come nearer to "high art"? Or, on the contrary, he try to introduce provocation in gallery? Neither of the two. It is an opportunity to show worth in new area and to prove there are no borders and stereotypes that for the creative person.

Except for new space Stas is opening for himself new themes in creativity- he is inspired by friends and relatives. The artist spent some time abroad, his outlook and the vital purposes were varied, many things in native city could seem to him strange. But friends and relatives have once more proved to him that habitual places and people are not less spiritualized and interesting, rather than impressions from travels. The artist has represented them in the works just the same: keen, free, and bright. Images that are not for the street walls are perfectly embodied in color and submitted in chamber space of the gallery. Use of several colors for bringing a stencil is some kind of an innovation. It has allowed to depart traditional technique and to create unusual combinations, to fill gallery space with the special spirit, reflecting mood of young generation.
